What Is ProOrder? Automated Trading in ProRealTime with IG

Updated 13 October 2026

ProOrder is the automated trading module in ProRealTime. You start a trading system once and it runs on ProRealTime's servers, sending orders to your broker even when your platform is closed. With an IG account, ProRealTime and ProOrder trade on your own CFD account, and every order follows fixed rules written in code.

Key facts

  • ProOrder runs on ProRealTime's servers and keeps trading after you close the platform (ProRealTime, October 2026).
  • At IG Sweden, ProRealTime is free the first month, then 330 SEK a month, waived in any calendar month with at least four transactions (IG, October 2026).
  • Our own ProRealTime account has averaged 7.7 orders a day since December 2023 (live results page, 1 October 2026).
  • That account went from 35,000 kr to 218,747 kr after fees between December 2023 and the end of September 2026, with a largest decline of −23.5 %.

How does ProOrder work?

ProOrder takes a trading system written in ProRealTime's own code and executes it automatically on your broker account. The rules are written in ProBuilder, the programming language ProRealTime uses for indicators and trading systems, or built with the platform's no-code tools.

When you start a system, ProRealTime's servers read the code on every new bar, decide whether the conditions for an entry or exit are met and send the order to your broker. ProRealTime describes the technology as 100 % server side, with servers connected directly to the servers that execute your orders.

The same code can first be tested in ProBacktest, the backtesting module, and then started live in ProOrder. A backtest is a simulation on historical data. It shows how the rules would have behaved, not how they will behave.

A trading system in ProOrder is rule based. It does what the code says, at the size you set, and nothing else. If you want to understand the steps from code to executed trade in more detail, read how a trading bot works.

Does ProOrder keep trading when your computer is off?

Yes. According to ProRealTime, a system you have started runs autonomously on its servers even after you close the platform, so your computer can be switched off.

That is the main practical difference from a MetaTrader 5 expert advisor, which runs inside a terminal that has to stay open, usually on a rented virtual server. With ProOrder there is no local software to keep running.

The system still depends on the connection between ProRealTime and the broker. In September 2025 IG had major IT problems, and according to our live results page our algos largely did not trade after 10 September that month. Server side execution removes the need for your own computer, not the dependence on the broker.

What does ProRealTime with ProOrder cost at IG?

At IG Sweden, ProRealTime is free for the first month and then costs 330 SEK a month. IG waives the fee in any calendar month in which you make at least four transactions, and the fee is charged on the last day of the month if you do not.

The platform fee is only one part of the cost. Each trade also has spread and, for positions held overnight, financing costs, which depend on the market and position size. IG's full price list is on its fees page.

An automated system that trades most days will normally make more than four transactions a month. Our own account averages 7.7 orders a day. Its fees in 2026, as reported on the live results page, ranged from 140 SEK to 907 SEK a month between January and September.

What limits does ProOrder put on a trading system?

ProOrder has built-in safeguards that can override or stop a system. According to ProRealTime's conditions of execution, the max position size you set takes precedence over the quantity in the code, and orders above it are ignored.

ProOrder can also stop a system when the number of pending and executed orders since market open reaches the level set in your trading settings, after repeated order rejections, or when an order is rejected for insufficient margin.

When a system is stopped, pending orders are cancelled and open positions are closed at market. That makes margin and position size part of the setup, not an afterthought. Our article on risk management in algo trading covers stop loss and position sizing in more detail.

What do you need to run ProOrder with IG?

You need four things. An IG account with ProRealTime, automated trading activated on that account, a trading system to start in ProOrder, and enough capital to cover the margin for the position size you choose.

The trading system is the part most people do not want to build themselves. Writing, testing and maintaining ProBuilder code takes time, and a backtest alone says little about how a system behaves live. That is the gap our algos are made for.

How do A+ Algos trading systems use ProOrder?

Our ProRealTime algos are ProOrder systems that you import into ProRealTime and start on your own IG account. They trade CFDs on indices, gold and EUR/USD, long and short, by fixed rules. Most are trend followers, and two are momentum breakouts.

We run the same algos in our own live account and publish every month after fees. The figures below come from our live data per 30 September 2026. Past results do not predict future results, and a losing month like September 2026 is a normal part of trading.

FAQ

Do I need to keep ProRealTime open for ProOrder to trade?

No. Once you start a trading system in ProOrder, it runs on ProRealTime's servers and keeps sending orders to your broker after you close the platform. You only need the platform to start, stop or change a system and to follow it. The system still depends on the broker being online, so check your positions regularly and read any notifications from ProRealTime.

Can I use ProOrder on an ISK?

No. ProOrder with IG trades on your IG account, and the algos we sell trade CFDs on indices, gold and EUR/USD. They do not trade individual shares and cannot be used on an investment savings account (ISK). CFDs are leveraged products, so a small market move can give a large gain or loss relative to the margin you put up.

Is ProRealTime free at IG?

The first month is free. After that IG charges 330 SEK a month, but waives the fee in any calendar month with at least four transactions. Trading costs such as spread and overnight financing come on top. Check IG's own pages before you start, since prices and conditions can change.

Can I backtest a system before running it in ProOrder?

Yes. ProBacktest runs the same code on historical data, and IG says you can test against up to 30 years of history. A backtest is a simulation. It does not include every real cost, delay or broker outage, which is why we publish live results next to any backtest figure we show.

Summary

ProOrder lets a ProRealTime trading system run on ProRealTime's servers and trade your IG account without your computer being on. It costs nothing extra at IG for an active account, but the system still depends on the broker connection and on sensible position size and margin. Our own account has used ProOrder every month since December 2023.

See the results live. Every month since December 2023 we publish the result of our own algos after fees on the live results page. Our most traded algo is Nasdaq M3 for ProRealTime.
