Ten algos that rarely lose at the same time

A+ Algo Portfolio V2.0 is A+ Algos' complete portfolio of trading algorithms for MetaTrader 5. Ten algos trade Nasdaq 100, S&P 500 and gold fully automatically on the same account, on timeframes from one minute to one day. Together they make about 20 trades a week.

The idea behind the portfolio is simple. No algo is smooth all the time, but algos that make money in different ways rarely lose at the same time. When one algo has a weak spell, the others are working. The correlation between the algos is only −0.02 to 0.20, which is why the curve for the whole account is much smoother than for any single algo. In the backtest the portfolio had a Sharpe ratio of 2.1, and at 0.5% risk per trade it had no losing year from 2018 to 2026, even when every trade was counted 25% worse than in the test.

With 4,000 USD and 1% risk per trade the account grew to 93,740 USD in the clean test and to 37,466 USD with 25% worse results. That is more than Nasdaq 100 gave over the same period in both cases. The longest time below the peak was 438 days.

The portfolio suits both your own account and a prop firm such as FTMO. A+ Account Guard is included and watches the whole account with a daily limit, maximum loss and a block around major news. You only set account size and risk.

Backtest on historical data. Past returns are no guarantee of future returns.

  • MetaTrader 5 has ten algos on Nasdaq 100, S&P 500 and gold, with A+ Account Guard V4.3 over the whole account.
  • ProRealTime has nine algos on Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500. A+ Gold H1 Capella runs on MetaTrader 5 only.
  • You only set account size and risk. Everything else is preset.

The algos alone and together

The algos alone had a Sharpe ratio of 0.5 to 1.1. The portfolio had 2.1 on MetaTrader 5 from April 2018. The MT5 portfolio had no losing year from 2018 to 2026 at 0.5% risk, even with 25% worse results, and the weakest year was 2022 at +1.2%.

How the figures are calculated

Backtest on real tick-by-tick price data from 2018, April 2018 to September 2026, with today's costs. MetaTrader 5 with 4,000 USD and 1% risk per trade gave 93,740 USD, 45.0% per year and a 14.2% largest drawdown. With 25% worse results 37,466 USD and 30.1% per year. ProRealTime with 3,000 EUR at level Standard gave 115,175 EUR, 53.6% per year and a 20.8% largest drawdown, with 25% worse results 42,271 EUR. Simulated trading, no promise of future results.

Questions before you start

How risky is algo trading?

All trading carries risk and CFD trading is high risk. You can lose part or all of the capital you put in. Our own live account has had a largest drop from its peak of −23.5% and a worst month of −13.9%. Give any algo at least six months before you judge it.

Are the results real?

Our MetaTrader 5 algos run live on two accounts, a 100k USD funded account and a 3,800 USD account. Every trade is shown openly on myfxbook. Backtests are shown separately and are always marked as simulated.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes. Every algo comes with a 14-day free trial on a demo account. Email us which algo you want to test and we send it to you.

How much capital do I need?

It depends on the algo and the risk you choose. With IG you can start from about 6,500 kr, but with a small account each losing trade becomes a large share of it. Every single algo page has a capital check that shows your risk per trade.

Does my computer need to be on?

Not with ProRealTime. The algo runs on the broker's servers and you can follow it in the IG app. Expert advisors for MetaTrader 5 need MetaTrader running, so most people use a VPS.

Do I get updates?

Yes. We review every algo continuously and you get new versions for free during your license period.

Why is the shortest license 6 months?

Because an algo has to be judged over many market conditions. A few weeks can look great or awful by chance.

Why do you sell algos you use yourselves?

The algos trade liquid index, gold and currency markets where our customers do not compete with each other. Selling them gives us a second income and you get algos we trust with our own money.

Can I cancel my purchase?

The algos are digital content delivered by email. When delivery starts at your request the right of withdrawal does not apply, according to Chapter 2, Section 11 of the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (2005:59). That is why we offer the free trial first.
