A+ Nasdaq M3 Vega

A+ Nasdaq M3 Vega is a trading algorithm for Nasdaq 100 (US100) on a 3-minute chart, for MetaTrader 5 and ProRealTime. It was previously called Nasdaq M3 pt1 and is the other upgraded classic in the range.

Vega works at a calmer pace than the 1-minute algos. It makes about two to three trades a week, in both directions, and lets the trades run from a few hours to a few days. Fewer trades mean lower total cost, and the time in the market gives the winning trades room to grow.

Vega's character is patience. About four out of ten trades ended in profit in the test, but the gains were larger than the losses. The curve therefore moves in steps, with quiet periods followed by clear lifts. It made a profit in 8 of 9 years from 2018 to 2026, and together with Orion it has been the engine of A+ Algo Portfolio V2.0.

Vega has a stop loss on every trade, a size based on your chosen risk and halving in a drawdown. With 4,000 USD and 1% risk it gave 8,786 USD in the clean test and 7,431 USD with 25% worse results.

Live as Nasdaq M3 pt.1, now upgraded in 2.0

The same core idea we have run live with our own money. This is new in 2.0.

  • A stop loss on every trade and a size based on your chosen risk as a percentage of the account.
  • The size is halved when the account is more than 10% below its peak and returns to full size at a new peak.
  • Survives double trading costs in the test, calculated with today's real costs including overnight financing.
  • Now also on MetaTrader 5.
  • Checked trade by trade. 997 trades in ProRealTime against 1,002 in the test.

A+ Nasdaq M3 Vega is one of the two algos behind most of the portfolio's return. It can run on its own, but in the portfolio it is balanced by the other algos, so you do not have to sit through a long drawdown in a single algo.

Questions before you start

How risky is algo trading?

All trading carries risk and CFD trading is high risk. You can lose part or all of the capital you put in. Our own live account has had a largest drop from its peak of −23.5% and a worst month of −13.9%. Give any algo at least six months before you judge it.

Are the results real?

The live results come from our own ProRealTime account and have been published every month since December 2023, after trading costs. Backtests are shown separately on each algo and are always marked as simulated.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes. Every algo comes with a 14-day free trial on a demo account. Email us which algo you want to test and we send it to you.

How much capital do I need?

It depends on the algo and the risk you choose. With IG you can start from about 6,500 kr, but with a small account each losing trade becomes a large share of it. Every single algo page has a capital check that shows your risk per trade.

Does my computer need to be on?

Not with ProRealTime. The algo runs on the broker's servers and you can follow it in the IG app. Expert advisors for MetaTrader 5 need MetaTrader running, so most people use a VPS.

Do I get updates?

Yes. We review every algo continuously and you get new versions for free during your license period.

Why is the shortest license 6 months?

Because an algo has to be judged over many market conditions. A few weeks can look great or awful by chance.

Why do you sell algos you use yourselves?

The algos trade liquid index, gold and currency markets where our customers do not compete with each other. Selling them gives us a second income and you get algos we trust with our own money.

Can I cancel my purchase?

The algos are digital content delivered by email. When delivery starts at your request the right of withdrawal does not apply, according to Chapter 2, Section 11 of the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (2005:59). That is why we offer the free trial first.
